Resources for Homeschooling
Hello everyone!
Here are some good study materials and resources, listed roughly by subject/grade level.
Math:
- The Art of Problem Solving. This website is a great place to practice your math skills and talk about math. Just simply create an account (warning: usernames cannot be changed), and start practicing! There are several forums for you to talk on, and you can certainly ask questions on those forums! Try to learn Latex, a markup language that enhances your math writing skills. You may also take online classes or find an AoPS Learning Center near you.
- The Art of Problem Solving Textbooks. Made by the same company as above, the Art of Problem Solving Textbooks give students deep problem-solving approaches and ultimately prepare students for math competitions like the AMCs, HMMT, AIME, and the USAMO. The Introductory series include subjects ranged from Prealgebra – Geometry, while including Intro. to Number Theory as a discrete math subject. The Intermediate series include Intermediate Algebra, Intermediate Counting and Probability, and Precalculus. There is also a Calculus textbook available. - Basic Physics: A Self-Teaching Guide by Karl F. Kuhn This book contains all you need to know on your high school physics class.
- Protobowl.com. This website is a good practice site for bee-style competitions, specifically designed for mostly science topics. Warning: there may be some people typing profanity on the site, so avoid public rooms and use your own room. The site is not monitored as well as the Art of Problem Solving, so be careful when you use this website.
- Balancing Chemical Equations: by Chris McMullen. This is a great resource to use for any students who are currently studying chemistry.
- Nasa.gov. A good website for learning astrophysics and checking on what’s up for space exploration.
English/Language Arts:
