Here are the highlights for Day 2 – a busy day!
We all woke up and ended up going to a Japanese convenience store called “Lawson’s”, where we got some fresh sushi, sandwiches and more. Nevertheless, we ate as quickly as we can so that we can be on time to apply for my Taiwanese visa because I am a foreigner who can only stay for 90 days. We applied for our visa and we went to the San-A-Naha Main Place via the Yui Rail we took last night.
Turns out the Yui trains drive towards the left side, and so do the cars on this island! So we had to be extremely careful when it comes to crossing the road: look to the right, not the left…
The San-A-Naha place was fun, though, since it included advanced Japanese machinery that we had seen in our daily lives, except it was improved! We didn’t buy anything since we were saving our luggage space for the outlets we were going to go on Day 4. I’ll post about it later.
Anyways, after eating a late lunch at 2 PM we decided to go to the Okinawa Prefectural and Art Museum. Paying the fee, about 1000 JPY, we had an awesome experience with the audio guide that explained the significance of each replica or artifact! That’s the good part about trips: you can learn and have fun at the same time! We took a glance at some Okinawan style clothes, some habitats of the island, a model of an Okinawan trade ship and Japanese calligraphy, which was very similar to the Chinese style.
When we got tired we scrambled to the First Makishi Market, which we found was renovated, just like the Nanmen Market in Taipei right now. The market got moved to another building, and there we saw some great oysters, clams, lobsters, and seafood of all sorts on the first floor! 🐟 One weird type even almost sprayed me with water!(since some sea creatures spit out sand/salt from their surroundings)
We returned to our shopping experiences and went back to the underground B1 supermarket to get some fruit and a meal for dinner. For dinner, I had a yummy-tasting bento – consisting of cooked fish, rice, tempura and seaweed. It was delicious! 😝
That night we stayed up until 11 o’clock, so I showered first to get the rights of doing some math. This day was really fun! 😄😃
