We have now reached the moment where we have an event that can be written in our future history books – NASA and SpaceX have launched an American rocket on American soil for the first time in nine years!

Since the last shuttle launch of 2011, there have been no launches at the Cape Canaveral launch site. But on this day, May 30th, NASA has launched yet another rocket from American soil in nine years – a co-operation with another company SpaceX. Together, they have launched a brand-new rocket with a capsule with new touch-screen gadgets, unlike the era of the space shuttles that used switches and buttons. NASA and SpaceX plan to dock at the International Space Station at 10:27 am EDT.

The crew consists of the duo Ben and Doug, two very skilled astronauts that made history on this day. In addition to the crew, they have also brought with them a cute purple dinosaur with them to 0-G. Aww!

So don’t forget to watch the docking if you haven’t watched the launch live on Youtube or the NASA.GOV website:
