It has been a while since I last posted here!
Today, I watched the movie “David” with my family in the theaters. I’ll have to say that it was one of the best movies I’ve seen.
Being somewhat familiar with the biblical story of David, it was especially enlightening seeing it retold on the screen. The movie was historically and biblically accurate, overall, and the graphics and animations served well to highlight key parts of the narrative, especially the moments when God is working in David’s life. For me, “David” was a wonderful reminder that sometimes there are plans that the Lord has for us that we may not immediately see but will work out in the future. David was a shepherd and the youngest of his brothers, but God’s plan for him was much bigger than he had thought — he becomes the king of Israel!
There were also various moments in the movie that brought tears to my eyes, one of which were the beginning scenes where David defends his one sheep from an attacking lion. It reminded me of the fact that God cares for each and every one of us:
“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off?
Matthew 18:11-13 NIV
As alluded multiple times in the film, God is like our shepherd and we are like His sheep. He takes care of every one of us and as our Father looks after every one of us.
I also especially enjoyed seeing David stone the giant Goliath in the flim. It’s definitely one of my favorite moments of the Bible and shows that we are never truly alone, because God cares for us and can help us overcome even the biggest challenges of our lives.
I highly recommend seeing “David”!
