Here, right in this post, I will be teaching you how to make your own scone recipe! Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 200 grams of flour
- 2 tsp (6g) aluminum-free baking powder
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 15g Parmesan cheese powder
- A dash of grounded rosemary leaves
- 30 grams of granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 70 grams of milk
- 50 grams of salted butter
- Egg wash (with a brush) – applied at the end
Yield: 7-9 thick scones
Note that is is recommended to use a plastic scraping tool to mix the ingredients. The butter is not intended to melt in any way, and it may melt if the weather is hot or if your hand is hot.
- Sift the baking powder and the flour and mix well. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Cut the butter into small pieces first. Then add the sugar and the chopped up butter, in that order. Mix well with your hand or some other mixing tool (non-electric is preferred).
- Add the garlic, cheese powder, and rosemary. Continue cutting and mixing it gently.
- Pour the egg yolk and half of the milk into the dough. Then, after mixing for a minute, add the other half of the milk. Mix it well. Do not knead the dough.
- When you feel like it has been mixed well, wrap the dough in a plastic wrap and refrigerate for another 30 minutes.
- After those thirty minutes, sprinkle some flour on a clean table and remove the wrapped dough from the refrigerator. After unwrapping the plastic, sprinkle some flour onto the dough to prevent it from sticking onto the table.
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius
- Press the dough into a rectangular shape. Then, fold one-third of the dough in and the other in third on top of the first third. After you’ve done that press the dough into a rectangular shape. Repeat 3-4 times.
- Get a scone or cookie mold and cut out some dough. If you have some remaining dough, re-arrange into a rectangular shape and cut out some more dough.
- Brush a layer of egg wash onto each of these scones.
- Bake the tray of scones in the oven for 12-15 minutes.
- The scone tastes best when it is served hot. Enjoy your scones after 10 minutes for the scones to cool down! 😉
