Honestly speaking, this was one of the best books I had ever read.

Summary:

The story starts with Edmond Dantès, being the first mate of the ship Pharaon, who is wrongly imprisoned by three men that were jealous of his advantages: Caderousse, Danglars and Fernand. Dantes is sentenced for life because of the letter he accidentally carried with him in Marseille. Later, he meets an old priest Abbè Faria and spent six to seven years learning the arts, humanities, and sciences from this man. When the abbè dies, Dantès escapes by hiding himself in the abbè’s burial sack and is thrown into the sea. There, he is picked up by some smugglers and makes many trips to the island of Monte Cristo, where he gets all of his wealth. He then goes by many names such as the Count of Monte Cristo, Abbè Busoni, Lord Wilmore and Sinbad the Sailor, but eventually plans revenge on the men responsible for this crime. Along the way, he meets many people and hired many servants to his abode to become one of Paris’s richest and finest men.
