Sorry that I haven’t posted in a while.
On November 14th, me and my family went to a brilliant concert in Zhongshan Hall (中山堂) near MRT Ximen Station(捷運西門站).
Benny Tseng had a great romantic style to his playing when he played the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor. I have seen Ray Chen play it in a recording on Youtube, but this experience was more special because I got to saw it live.
After the Violin Concerto, we listened to the Taipei City Symphony Orchestra play the Symphony No. 9 (New World) by Dvorak. The sound blended well together though I have to admit that the strings sections weren’t as good as the brass sections, and it degraded this experience a bit because the strings are a vital part to each of the movements. But I loved how the brass section spread the sound from their instruments all throughout the audience.
Also, the New World Symphony reminds me of 8th-grade orchestra because we played this during rehearsal 😜
