Today, I will share with you some tips on how to prepare for the AMC(American Mathematics Competitions) 10/12.
- Do some AoPS Books. That means doing the Introduction Series for AMC 10 and the Intermediate Series for AMC 12 by the Art of Problem Solving. Also, I highly recommend Volume 1 for AMC 10 and Volume 2 for AMC 12 for a thorough review on the topics covered in the contests.
- Do a lot of practice tests. You can do the mock tests without time pressure at first, and then add the 75 minute timer in when you feel confortable enough. Also, solve lots of problems, especially from ARML (AMC 10 and 12) and HMMT (AMC 12)
- Do AIME problems. If you do AIME problems consistently, you will gain an intuitive sense on how to approach a problem on the easier AMC 10/12 contests. Also, doing AIME problems will also help you ace the AIME. In addition to doing AMC 10/12 tests, try mocking AIMEs too.
I hope this short article helped, and good luck with your math competition goals! (if you have any)
